🏁 Week 9: Beauty in the Mess

Why the imperfect stuff is often the most powerful

It’s taken until Week 9 for the weekly plan to be delayed and honestly, I didn’t think I’d make it this long consistently! But this week, the delay comes with a damn good reason.

Over the weekend, I ran the Gold Coast Marathon alongside 30 members of our Tribal community, who took on the 10K, Half, and Full distances. To think that’s the same number of people who showed up to the very first Tribal Run is nuts. Also not to forget the near 80 people from Tribal taking on Hyrox Sydney.

I don’t want to turn this into a motivational speech, but I’m just really proud. Tribal’s grown into something special and the fact that people joined us in GC, some for their first-ever Marathon and even their first ever Tribal run at the shakeout, proves we’re building something real. Not polished. Not perfect. Just a community that actually cares.

There’s a Japanese concept I love called Wabi Sabi, which means finding beauty in imperfection. That’s Tribal to a T. We don’t do slick videos, fancy ad campaigns, or have deep pockets (I literally got a credit card to keep things going and that is a story for another day). But what we do have is a community that shows up, does hard things, and inspires each other along the way.

That’s what the marathon is too
. rarely perfect, but deeply profound. It takes you to emotional extremes, questions your limits, and when it ends, you’re left with a beautiful mess of memories and meaning. It’s the full stop on one chapter and the title of the next one.

So no, I’m not saying everyone should run a marathon. But whatever distance you’re training for know this: it doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful. These next few weeks might feel tough, but they’re shaping a story worth telling.

And yes, this week’s long run is 30km. You’ll probably curse me halfway through it
but hopefully, you’ll also forgive the delay in getting this out 😉

👉 This week’s plan is here but it is mostly just the RSVP link for Sunday’s Long Run at 7am. So join us and support each other along the way! Running can be a team sport you don’t need to do it alone.

The Sydney Marathon countdown is officially on. We’ve got some great things planned for race week and an afterparty to celebrate what you’ve all achieved
. more on that soon!

Keep up the good work,
Ryan
