🏃‍♂️ TRIBAL TRAINING BLOCK – WEEK 4

Long runs, big strides, and a few things to look forward to.

Hey team,

Some of you are just here for the link to the training and to save you the hassle of missing out on reading the best email of the week (I know I am biased) click here, but if you need some context for the plan keep on reading!

We’ve officially hit Week 4 of our training block, and for those taking on the Gold Coast Marathon, the countdown is well and truly on. Just four long runs left, and we’re dialling things up:

  • 32KM this week

  • 34KM next week
Then it’s taper time before race day.

If you’re training for Sydney Marathon, it might feel like you’ve got loads of time — and these long run distances above probably seem intense and that you might feel like you will never get there. But don’t worry, the focus right now is getting you comfortable at 20+ KM. That way, when the time comes, you’re ready.

Let’s be honest — for many of you, anything over the half marathon mark is basically a new PB, and that’s worth celebrating. That’s why we always have our post-run meet ups at 4 Doors Down in The Rocks, it is a chance for us to celebrate the huge achievement and distance we have just run! Why wait til the finish line of the race to celebrate. All those little wins are worth celebrating.

💪 A quick note on strength work

Yes, it’s in the plan — but it’s also easy to skip when the kilometres start piling up. Try to keep it in the mix where you can. This is where niggles creep in if we slack off — a little consistency here goes a long way.

🎄 What’s Coming Up

  • Christmas in July — we’re chatting with the team at 4 Doors Down to lock in a date. Expect good food and I mean incredibly good food and festive vibes. I know it might seem strange in the middle of the year but it just works!

  • Track Event in October — still early days, but think Friday Night Lights... Tribal style. Big community energy to close out winter, a chance to hopefully set some PB’s and kick off spring with something special.

As always, if you’ve got any questions about training, events or anything Tribal related. You know where to find me.

See you all Wednesday at the track….. it’s going to be a good one.
