From Ocean Swims to Running Wins
Celebrating Milestones, Embracing Challenges, and Exciting Announcements Ahead!
We made it to week 2 of the newsletter! If you know me, you know I love to talk, so you’d think writing a weekly newsletter would be a breeze, right? But somehow, every time I sit down to write, my mind goes blank. I worry about whether the info is good enough, if people need to hear it, and try not to waffle. But here I am, waffling away!
Yesterday, I completed the 2.4km Coogee Island Challenge Ocean Swim. This was huge for me, especially since I only started swimming about 18 months ago. Sure, I might have come near last and swallowed enough water to lower sea levels, but I’m proud of myself for achieving something that once seemed impossible!
I know what you’re thinking—what does this have to do with running or the run club? And the answer is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! I guess, I wanted to use this medium to inflate my ego and let you know of how proud I am of myself haha. But it did get me thinking; We live in a world where people only seem to post the crazy challenges online and its got to the point now where we go on social media and feel inadequate with what we are doing as a result. But remember comparison is the thief of joy and everyone’s gold medal is different. Yesterday mine was completing that swim regardless of the time it took me, whereas I am sure other people in the same race had different goals. My point being is that one persons 1km run might be another persons marathon! The thing is life is not a popularity contest. Take the hill, but first answer the question: What is my hill? And make that hill personal to you!
With the Tribal Run Club, I want to ensure that everyone feels welcome, regardless of their 'hill.' That’s why we have 3, 5, and 8km runs on Wednesdays with various pace groups. When planning 2025 events, we picked races with varying distances that get progressively harder throughout the year. I want this journey to have plenty of seats so everyone can join! Which is why I am working on announcing our TRIBAL360 membership as soon as possible to empower you to become the best version of yourself!
I want you to experience that same sense of achievement that I got yesterday and hopefully inspire you to keep showing up and unlock your potential with us in 2025! The thing is who you surround yourself with is makes a huge difference to what you do in life. If it wasn’t for the group of friends who believe in me more than I believe in myself, I wouldn’t even be here writing this email!
It's only ever scary because its new, not because you are incapable!
Until next week,
Ryan!
